Yoga Kurunta: On the Ropes with Lori McIntosh

Kurunta means puppet in Sanskrit. In asana, using the wall ropes to manipulate their limbs and suspend their bodies, students become much like marionettes. Except in this case, the puppet and the puppeteer are one and the same. Once students learn to take support, trusting that the ropes will hold them, they develop courage to pursue poses that may otherwise seem impossible for their bodies.

In this course, all categories of asana are addressed: standing poses, forward and back extensions, twistings and inversions. Further benefits include addressing asymmetries and alignment, targeting specific areas for strength and flexibility, improving balance and stamina, and lengthening timings to experience effects of certain poses on a deeper level.

Pre-requisites: Six months of continuous study of Iyengar Yoga.
