$310 (4 sessions)

Prerequisite for Students: Three years continuous study of Iyengar Yoga
Under the guidance of B.K.S. Iyengar, IYNAUS established the set of guidelines found in its Iyengar Yoga Certification Manual. The guidelines are used to assess and certify teachers within the Iyengar Yoga tradition, but their intention extends far beyond testing. By applying them with conscientious rigor, teachers develop effective and inspirational teaching tools.
Topics to be covered:
- Voice and pacing techniques
- Observation and language skills
- Methods of correction, including hands on adjustments
- Ways to enhance teaching presence and class participation
Sessions will include peer teaching and written assignments based on each skill set. All levels of teaching will be addressed in order to provide context for the linking of poses as they progress from one level to the next.
Note: We recommend students attend Anna’s pop-up classes on Saturdays, July 13, 20, 27, and August 3. The pop-ups are designed to provide specific examples of how teaching skills progress from one level to another.
Anna is one of Southern California’s Senior Iyengar teachers and a founding member of IYILA. Since 1982 she has traveled regularly to India to study with the Iyengar family. In 1988 she received a BSc in Kinesiology from UCLA. Anna is deeply committed to fostering the growth and education of teachers within the Iyengar Yoga tradition, passing onto others what has so generously been given to her by the Iyengar family and her mentoring teachers.
