This 4 Week Intro Course is an excellent way to begin learning Iyengar Yoga, restart a lapsed practice or deepen your understanding with more precise instruction. Designed to provide a solid foundation of basic actions in asanas (poses), develop and increase strength, flexibility, awareness and confidence, the Iyengar Yoga method will lead you to discover a safe and systematic progression of study. Within each class and from class to class, sequences of actions develop and hone your skills and abilities.
Iyengar Yoga is for every age, body type and fitness level. Our teachers are experienced, committed yoga practitioners, ready to guide you in your yoga practice. We provide all props (including mats) at no charge. However, feel free to bring your own mat if you prefer. Upon completion, students will be able to continue their learning in any Level I class.
Andrea Isco is a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and after being inspired by a friend’s beautiful demonstration of Salamba Sirsasana, in 1998 started taking classes at IYILA. Immediately she began to experience positive benefits from the practice of yoga: increase in physical strength, flexibility, a respite from anxiety and depression and a new awareness of her hormonal rhythms, to name a few. Andrea entered the Iyengar Yoga Training Program in 2002 and completed the program in 2005. During the time she was in this program she began to teach yoga. She encourages people to experience for themselves the health and happiness the practice of yoga can bring.
