Prerequisite for Students: Fundamental knowledge of anatomical terms of movement at each joint and a basic knowledge of anatomical terms of location/position.
Course goals are two-fold:
1. To provide an overview of the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system, as well as the organs within;
2. To provide modications for neck, shoulder, knee, back and, hip issues for poses on the Introductory I/II syllabi.
Diane Gysbers has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 1990. In addition to teaching regular classes at the Institute, she has guided countless new mothers in pre and post-natal classes. Diane was on the faculty of the Iyengar Yoga Training Program from 1995-2017 and teaches out of her private studio in Venice, California.
Cindy Lee is a long time Iyengar yoga practitioner and has completed the Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program. She is an occupational therapist and works with adults in inpatient physical rehabilitation.
